Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport Wins “Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel” Award at the 2008 World Travel Awards

Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport recently added another feather to its cap when it was named Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel at the prestigious 2008 World Travel Awards for Asia held in Shanghai, China.
Described by the respected Wall Street Journal as the 'Oscars' of the travel industry, the World Travel Awards are highly coveted and sought after as these awards are believed to reflect true customer experience and perception of an organisation. Other nominees for the category of Asia’s Leading Airport Hotel this year were Amari Airport Hotel, Asia Airport Hotel in Bangkok, Radisson Hotel in Delhi and Taj Ambassador.
Delighted with the hotel’s latest accolade, Hans Winsnes, General Manager of Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport said, “The World Travel Awards is known to be one of the most important awards in the travel industry. The World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry. The awards are regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product could ever hope to receive. This award is regarded as an incredible achievement as organisations presented with one of these awards is able to create an influential status in the travel industry, thus reassuring travellers the confidence in their services and facilities. Thousands of votes are cast by travel professionals from 167,000 travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organisations in over 160 countries across the globe.
The winner and four qualifying runners-up of the previous voting will automatically qualify for the following year’s nominations. Self-nominations are also open to organisations that wish to participate. The nominations are then verified by a group of industry experts. Issues such as quality of service, standards, guest satisfaction, product innovation and business acumen are included in this review. The voting process is online and comes mainly from executives working within travel and tourism trade, particularly travel agents. However, in 2008 - voting was opened to travellers in general.
