The Role

The Food & Beverage Manager is a multi-functional role with a focus on: overseeing operations at the Pacific Bistro and Lounge at Pan Pacific Village Centre; Hotel Catering & Events liaison & execution. This is a full-time, year-round role reporting to the Director of Sales / Front Office Manager and a minimum 1-year commitment is preferred.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Pacific Bistro at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre
  • Maximize Food and Beverage sales and revenue for the hotel
  • Ensure the Pacific Bistro associates operate with a sales attitude and all associates are aware of sales opportunities within the hotel, which will assist with the maximization of revenue
  • Ensure all Pacific Bistro  and Banquet ssociates are aware of all food and beverage sales targets and are kept informed to performance results
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met related to service of food and beverage
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise all Pacific Bistro and Banquet associates ensuring all standards are met
  • Ensure all Floats and cash handling procedures are adhered to within company standards and all charges are posted accurately to ensure the overall protection of the company’s revenue
  • Ensures accuracy with sales, payroll, inventory and administrative processes. Submitting reports as required
  • Inspect, clean and maintain the presentation of the Pacific Bistro and equipment including dishwashing area and storage rooms
  • Resolve guest and employee complaints. Keep FOM / DoOps informed of any risk or opportunity in relation to any experience or inter-action
  • Maintain a high standard of customer relations/customer service. Maintain professional internal/external guest service: smiles, creates eye contact and uses employee/guest names
  • Maintain open and constant communication with all departments
  • Guide and counsel associate to correct nonstandard behavior/performance and promote improved productivity; Ensure all front-line associates are well presented at all times in accordance with PPHG Standards
  • Communicate regularly with Sales and Culinary team regarding banquet event orders, including scheduling of associates.  Attendance at weekly catering meeting is required
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Banquet facilities at Pan Pacific Whistler. Ensuring all set up, tear down and banquets rooms are ready one hour before and reset after the event
  • Support the Sales team by communicating directly with clients regarding catering and event orders as required
  • Ability to perform all duties required of a bartender and server
  • Other duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager or Director of Sales

  • Possess a passion for customer service
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a 4-star hotel/restaurant an asset
  • Previous serving or banquet experience in a 4-star hotel/restaurant. Knowledge of Food, beverage and spirits
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills, and demonstrate an eye for detail
  • Serving it Right Certificate
  • Knowledge of Micros, Opera, Microsoft Office
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in producing professional documents and communications
  • Post-secondary education or training in Food & Beverage Management or similar program is considered an asset
