Hottest Hangout Spots for a HSBC Rugby 7s Afterparty - PARKROYAL on Beach Road

Where to Celebrate After the HSBC Rugby Sevens Games in Singapore

Paint the Town Red After the Singapore Rugby 7s

The rugby heat is on in Singapore.

On 28 and 29 April 2018, the “city in a garden” will morph into rugger central, as tens of thousands of rugbyheads supporting 16 teams from across the globe thunder into town for the HSBC Rugby Sevens.

The third edition of the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens in 2018 is shaping up to be the most exciting one yet. Interestingly, Team Singapore’s Sidney Kumar lists USA as the team to watch this year - let’s see how far they can go against favourites such as South Africa, Fiji or New Zealand.

If you’re a sports fanatic, you’d know that there is nothing quite like a good head-to-head rugby match to work up an appetite for comfort grub and a refreshing bottle of beer.

Need a place to celebrate or commiserate after watching your favourite teams battle it out at the National Stadium? Check out this list of the best places in Singapore to party the night away, put together by the team at PARKROYAL on Beach Road.

Or make a beeline for McGettigan’s bar in the nightlife hotspot of Clarke Quay. Kicking off a three-night music festival called Music After 7s 2018, McGettigan’s will be hosting Gan Ainm (Irish for “without a name”), Singapore’s number one Celtic Band, on 27 April. Playing an extensive repertoire of Irish traditional and folk music, mixed with Irish rock, punk, and Celtic-influenced American pieces, the band has dazzled audiences at gigs throughout Singapore and Southeast Asia.

To celebrate your team’s winning drop-kick on Sunday, rock on to high-octane sets by Singapore-based English band Rockweller presented by Paulaner Clarke Quay.

Ticket holders can enjoy exclusive food and beverage promotions when you flash your 2018 HSBC Singapore Rugby 7s tickets at participating outlets, such as The Pump Room, Chupitos Shots Bar, and Harry’s.

One such craft beer bar to watch is Druggists. Formerly the headquarters of the Singapore Chinese Druggists Association (hence the name), the bar oozes old-school charm and pours an exquisite selection of craft beers out of a slick 23-tap wall. Modelled after Torst of Brooklyn, its tap wall and ice-cold brews makes this a spot worth checking out for your post-rugby celebratory tour.

Just a 10-minute walk away from PARKROYAL on Beach Road is The Armoury Craft Beer Bar, run by hop-obsessed craft beer lovers. The Armoury also serves up a mean charcoal-grilled steak, so if you’re a meat lover, this is the place for you.

For first-timers in Singapore, Bak Kut Teh consists of a peppery and meaty broth served with pork ribs that has been slow-cooked until the meat is almost falling off the bone. Best slurped up with a side of you tiao (fried Chinese doughnut), it will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Looking for some burger bliss? Head to Third and Sixth Bistrobar. Its eponymously named No. 36 burger features a high quality beef patty that's wholesomely thick and juicy, and grilled to your choice of doneness topped with melted cheddar cheese, onions, and bacon rashers.

For a different kind of nightcap, tuck into Singapore’s most famous tau huay (silky beancurd dessert) at Rochor Original Beancurd. Don’t miss out on the egg tarts which make a nice accompaniment to the soy dessert.
