Penang may be famous for its street food, but visitors and vacationers often seek out seafood in Penang as well. With a wide selection of seafood restaurants around the Malaysian state, you will be spoilt for choice unless you have a certain preference. Here is a guide on where you can go for the best seafood offerings.
If you fancy enjoying a barbecue seafood dinner against a backdrop of sea views and a stunning sunset, Uncle Zack By The Beach is the place to be. Located at the beachfront of our resort, this open-air restaurant offers delicious barbecue seafood items like lobster, prawns and scallops. Apart from seafood, there are also grilled meat dishes, as well as a buffet spread with an array of local and international cuisines at the restaurant, which opens every Friday night.
Located along the shoreline of Batu Ferringhi beach, Tsunami Village Seafood Restaurant is just a short drive away from PARKROYAL Penang Resort. It offers a wide range of Chinese-style seafood dishes, the most popular of which are the Lemon Grass Steamed Fish, Baked Crab, and Asam Prawn. After dinner, take a stroll along the beach to catch the docking boats, the floating mosque, and the scenic sunset views.
Patronised mostly by locals, this restaurant serves a variety of seafood dishes. Besides individual seafood and meat dishes, there are also delicious noodle options, cooked with clams or crab. To get to the restaurant, take a taxi, or catch Rapid Penang Bus number 101. Both the taxi stand and the bus stop are located right in front of our resort.
Although the name of the restaurant is Sea Pearl Lagoon Café, the eatery is more widely known by locals as Tua Peh Kong Seafood. This is because the Chinese temple, Tua Peh Kong, is located right next to it. A pork-free restaurant with amazing views of the sea overlooking the North Channel, it offers signature seafood dishes like coal-baked crabs and salt-baked prawns that are not to be missed.
Bali Hai Seafood Market Restaurant is a pork-free restaurant, where diners are able to pick their choice of seafood from its aquariums. The prices here are slightly more expensive, but the restaurant has a great atmosphere and an extensive range of seafood. After a satisfying meal, a leisurely stroll along the Gurney Drive stretch makes for a great way to end the night. For couples who prefer some privacy, there’s an option to dine in a private bamboo pavilion.
Ocean Green Seafood Restaurant is a popular restaurant, where locals often bring their guests for a mouthwatering seafood banquet. Also a pork-free restaurant, this cosy eatery’s signature dishes are the traditional charcoal grilled satay with overlayed sauce, grilled crab meat topped with cheese, deep fried baby chicken, Hainanese spring rolls, and deep fried spicy salt and pepper mantis prawns. A selection of wine and beer is also available for you to enjoy with the seafood.
