One look at this humble stall, and you’ll never guess it is a one-star Michelin joint. After all, most Michelin star eateries have extravagant facades, and private seating areas. Not to mention the hefty price tag. At Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, their signature dish – “Chicken rice” costs a mere SGD3.80. Possibly the cheapest Michelin joint around, you definitely don’t want to miss this!

Next up is the Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa that earned a much-coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand. There's no reason to give this a miss since getting there is so convenient with the hawker stall located just across the road from PARKROYAL on Pickering. While most customers prefer the popular Asia Delight Laksa, another dish that’s worth a try is the Fruit Juice Crayfish Mee Siam. It might sound like an odd concoction, but this dish is both satisfyingly spicy and sour, and healthy to the hilt.

Not to be mistaken for the Michelin one-star stall of a similar name along Crawford Lane, Hong Lim’s High Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle holds its own as well with its ace ‘Bak Chor Mee’ (minced meat noodles) dish. For SGD6 a bowl, it serves up generous, lip-smacking portions of humble hawker fare that will have you licking your bowl clean every single time.
Believe it or not, this newly awarded Bib Gourmand chain began humbly in 1969 with nothing but a pushcart! It has since come a long way, owning several air-conditioned outlets around Singapore with the nearest one located just next door to PARKROYAL on Pickering at Chinatown Point. Rest assured each outlet stays true to its high standard of service and original ‘Bak Kut Teh’ (Pork Ribs Soup) recipe.

Odette was given two Michelin stars for their top-notch recipes and artful presentation. One of its signature dishes is the Smoked Organic Egg which features poached eggs still in their shells, served on a cardboard egg carton with dry ice smoke wafting from the dish.

Though an outwardly unassuming place, Candlenut is home to Peranakan culinary offerings that is known to exceed expectations. In fact, the one Michelin star restaurant has even played host to well-known chefs including Joan Roca, Alvin Leung, and Tetsuya Wakuda. The must-try crowd favourites include Fragrant Yellow Coconut Curry of Crab, and the Classic Kueh Pie Tee.
Make sure you take note of their new home as they have recently moved to COMO Dempsey, a 15-minute drive from PARKROYAL on Pickering.
Another modest-looking eatery that has endured as a fan favourite is Kok Sen Restaurant, a tze char stall along Keong Saik Road. In spite of its slightly heftier price tag of SGD15, customers continue to line up at this shop for a bowl of Big Prawn Bee Hoon. A family business that’s persisted for almost half a century, the popular restaurant was awarded a Bib Gourmand in 2016.

Hainanese Chicken Rice is Singapore’s most popular national dish, and one of the best places to try this humble local dish is Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at Maxwell Food Centre. The owners beat Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey, who has three Michelin stars under his belt, in a 'Hawker Heroes Challenge' back in 2013. Now known as a Michelin Bib Gourmand joint, it offers the most tender and aromatic chicken slices you’ll ever taste. A stay at PARKROYAL on Pickering means not having to venture far to get your hands on it!
