Singapore’s café and brunch scene is booming, and it’s no surprise why. The café life is a celebration of all things slow, relaxed, and laid back, like an antithesis to the hectic lifestyle Singapore-dwellers know so well.
Besides, where else would we go for our caffeine shots?
From farm-to-table clean foods to decadent desserts, we all need our café therapy from time to time.
Here are PARKROYAL on Pickering’s top picks of Singapore city cafes where you can chillax, be transported into another world, and tease your followers with your Instagram stories.
Ash & Char may be one of the newest kids on the block, but they’ve kicked into high gear when it comes to the quality of their coffee and char-grilled foods. By nightfall, the chic dinery ditches its café cloak and transforms into an intimate tapas bar, serving exquisite Asian dishes embellished with subtle smoky flavours.
Be sure to try their humbly-named Char Siew, tantalising Tamarind Wings, and (almost) heart-stoppingly good Vietnamese Loaded Fries.

Punch, located just a few minutes’ walk away from PARKROYAL on Pickering, is the latest café installation by the creators of quintessential Aussie-inspired café haunt The Plain. Spotting a minimalist look with lush greenery growing out from holes in the wall and a sheltered courtyard, Punch is an inner city oasis of calm; the perfect spot to escape to in the middle of a hectic day.
We highly recommend the Reuben sandwich and Affogato with sea salt brownies. For something refreshing, try the Breakfast Mule (vodka optional).

Apiary, which means the place where bees are kept, lives up to its sweet, delicate name. While indulgent in every sense of the word, you can polish off your scoops with the assurance that all of the ice-creams served here are pasteurised on site, with no artificial flavourings and colouring.
Be sure to try the more exotic flavours such as Bailey Brownie, Sesame and Blue Milk. And don’t forget the triple-scoop-on-cone wall shot for your IG collection!
