Singapore, 14 April 2015 – In commemoration of Singapore’s 50th Birthday, Edge introduces Makan Makan, a Saturday lunch enhanced with new gastronomic Peranakan presentations. Available every Saturday from 18 April 2015, 12:00 noon to 2:30pm, guests may delight in a diverse and engaging dining experience with seven live food kitchens showcasing freshly-made Asian and Pacific delicacies including Sushi, Singaporean and Peranakan delicacies as well as durian and Nonya desserts galore.
The key highlights include Babi Pongteh - juicy Stewed Pork Trotters in sweet Vinegar and Ginger, Ngo Hiang – spiced Lobster, Prawns and Chestnuts encased in crispy Beancurd skin, and aromatic Traditional Peranakan Chicken Curry served with freshly-baked French Baguette. Asian spices such as cumin and turmeric used to make the rempah paste lend their aromatic lift to the succulent chicken, giving the dish added dimension and flavor.
Guests may also enjoy a tantalising selection of homemade Sambal to complement the dishes. This delectable sweet and spicy traditional Peranakan condiment comes in five different flavours – Honey Mango Sambal Tumis, Salted Fish Sambal, Thai Basil and Pineapple Sambal, Red Balado Sambal and Fried Rice Kampong Sambal.
Conclude the epicurean journey on a sweet note with a variety of local treats such as Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts, Portuguese Egg Tarts, Ice Kachang, and a signature selection of fragrant Durian-based desserts including Durian Puff, Durian Mousse Cake and Durian Pengat.
