  • K9 Wine and Dine

Presented in part by Scotiabank, the K9 Wine and Dine is a Whistler favourite. Dogs and their families come together to help better the lives of homeless dogs and cats in their community, with a fun evening of dining and a silent, live auction. Canine guests are served a 3 course meal of Yappetizers, homemade Meat Loaf finished with a secret blend called Pinot Growlio, and as the grand finale a Pupcake for dessert. After the happy dogs finish their meals, WAG volunteers look after them while the humans partake in a fabulous buffet with red and white wine. More info here.

  • The Rubble Creek Classic Run presented by Escape Route

The Rubble Creek Classic is an early morning recreational trail run that has been going every year since 1985. Taking runners up a grueling 1338m climb, runners then proceed along the Helm Creek Trail through the Cinder Flats giving them epic views of the Black Tusk and down to Garibaldi lake and its environs. Through the beautiful Taylor Meadows ending with the final knee jarring decent of 1781m to finish at the Rubble Creek parking lot. It is a long run (24k) but the scenery is so spectacular you will not mind the work!

The Whistler Readers and Writers Festival returns to celebrate the art of storytelling with an all-star lineup of guest authors and top tier events. Writers, readers and storytellers of all levels will be able to further their knowledge of the written word through a combination of development workshops, panel discussions, and reading and spoken word events during the action-packed weekend. The 2013 Festival lineup includes special guest Jian Ghomeshi (host of CBC Radio's "Q") and authors Lisa Moore, Patrick deWitt, Richard Wagamese and Roberta Rich.

  • Whistler 50 Relay and Ultra Marathon

This 8-person, 50 mile relay race or solo ultra-marathon is centred around Whistler Village and the winding Valley Trail system. Relay legs alternate between 13k and 7k. With pre-race gatherings and post-race parties, this a fun athletic event and a great social weekend.
