While Fujiazhuang invites quiet reflection, Xinghai Bay pulses with energy. This is where locals come to see and be seen. The square facing the bay becomes a lively stage, with children learning to fly kites, couples walking hand in hand, and street performers drawing crowds. It’s the perfect place to people-watch and get a feel for daily life in Dalian.

As evening approaches, food vendors appear with their portable kitchens, filling the air with mouthwatering aromas. Try the grilled squid with salt, chilli and lime—seafood at its most delicious and straightforward. The night market atmosphere creates a festive environment where locals and visitors mingle, sharing tables and conversations.

About 50 kilometres from downtown, Jinshi Tan (Golden Pebble Beach) offers the best of both worlds—natural beauty with thoughtful development. Its main three-kilometre beach has excellent sand and swimming conditions that improve as summer progresses. Windsurfers glide across the water while families build elaborate sandcastles along the shore. The area feels more spacious than city beaches, giving people room to spread out and truly relax.

The beach also features fascinating rock formations shaped by wind and water over centuries. Local imagination has named many of these—one resembling a turtle, another a sleeping lion. A walk among these natural sculptures makes for a pleasant break from sunbathing and swimming.
