Meet PLUME's Head Mixologist

Akmal Haqim

A homegrown talent from Singapore, Akmal brings over a decade of experience and a career shaped by some of the region’s most acclaimed bars. He began his journey at Tanjong Beach Club, where his passion for bartending took root. He went on to hone his craft at 28 HongKong Street. During his time there, the bar earned global recognition, ranking #24 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 and #55 in the 51-100 list of World’s 50 Best Bars 2022.

Akmal later joined Jungle Ballroom as Assistant Bar Manager, where he worked under the mentorship of Bar Manager Adrian Besa, and where he was a founding team member and instrumental in the bar’s pre-opening success. He represented Jungle Ballroom at guest shifts abroad and co-created its second cocktail menu, Jungle Journeys Vol. 2. Under his tenure, the bar was named #187 in Top 500 Bars 2024.

With 11 years of industry experience, Akmal has built a reputation as a creative visionary, inspired by local and Asian flavours, with a relentless drive to craft cocktails that tell a story. Akmal shares, “At PLUME, I want guests to walk away with both a memory and a smile.” He seeks to blend unique flavours with genuine warmth, creating not only cocktails but experiences that resonate long after the glass is empty.

As Akmal joins PLUME, he will work alongside Bar Manager Siew Han Jun and the hotel’s Beverage Manager Matthew Chan, as well as the PLUME team. Together, they will pour their heart and passion into crafting innovative cocktails, ensuring an unforgettable experience for every guest.
