Singapore Holidays: Where to take Great Family Photos

Did you know that Singapore is one of only three city-states in the world? The other two are Monaco and The Vatican City.

The island state may be tiny, but it offers lots of places of interest to snap gorgeous vacation photographs of your family. Notable among these visually stunning attractions is the world’s largest glass greenhouse and Southeast Asia’s largest aquarium.

Wish to bring back memorable Instagram worthy photos and videos of your Singapore family holiday? The team at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard, Singapore recommends a list of fun, kid-friendly (and photogenic) places to go with family in Singapore.

Satisfy the need for speed with your child at one of Singapore’s marquee events—the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. With three nights of high-octane race action, this is a must-do activity when you are in Singapore during September this year.

Get up close to the action at the F1 race pit and watch world-class race drivers such as Lewis Hamilton fly past in high speed over and over again. Here’s a tip—bring earplugs for your children. It can get quite loud!

The F1 race is a highly photogenic event and tailored for Instagram posts. Shoot at wide angle to capture the whole scene with your family all inside. The circuit is brightly lit, so lighting will not be a problem. To capture high-speed cars in action, set your shutter speed to high and ISO at maximum.

Planning to zoom into Singapore during the 2019 Singapore Night Race Grand Prix? Don’t miss Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL hotels’ special offers for the F1 race. Take advantage of our early bird offers by 31 July 2019 and enjoy attractive savings of up to 25% off our Best Available Rates plus lots of other benefits. Click here to learn more about our Grand Prix offers.

Paint the Town Fire Engine Red Here

Central Fire Station
Address: 62 Hill St, Singapore 179367
Tour operating hours: 9:00am to 11:00am (Saturday)
Admission Fee: Free (Register on the spot)

Begin your photographic journey at the Central Fire Station in Singapore. Red is the colour of choice here.

Every Saturday morning, the fire station conducts an Open House for the public. Visitors are given an hour-long tour that gives you glimpse into the station’s facilities, capabilities and vehicles. This will be followed by an exciting live demonstration by the firefighters showing how the latest firefighting and life-saving equipment is used.

The highlight of the Fire Station Open House is the water hosing demo. Your little ones can grab a piece of the action (complete with a complimentary fireman’s hat!) by holding onto the hose and shooting powerful jets of water to put out an imaginary fire, with assistance from the firefighters.

Visitors are welcome to take pictures of anything which captures their fancy. You can “slide” down a fireman’s pole, ride a fire engine like a firefighter, or take a selfie with the firefighters themselves—you can even pose as a family of “firefighters” next to the fire engine!

One of the best places to visit in Singapore for free, the station gives a rare chance for the little ones (and the adults) to experience what firefighters do.

After the tour, visit the Heritage Gallery, also at the Central Fire Station. Here you can check out the various types of fire engines, “don” a hazmat (hazardous material) suit, and gain a deeper insight into what firefighters undergo during an emergency.

Kids having a splashing good time makes great photographic subjects. And few places in Singapore can beat the Children’s Garden at Gardens By The Bay.

The centrepiece of a three-part play area for children, the Water Play area is controlled by computers—water jets linked to sensors create water effects that react to the movements of the children, eliciting squeals of delight, laughter and smiles. This colourful garden-themed area makes an excellent backdrop for capturing priceless photos or videos of you and your little ones drenched in fun.

Thirsty for more adventure? Explore the other two play areas—an Adventure Trail with balance beams and huge slides, and a Treehouse with steps and nets for your “little monkeys” to climb and play.

After that, visit the iconic Flower Dome for some breath-taking shots. The unique structure holds the Guinness World Record for being the Largest Greenhouse in the World in 2015. Covering 1.28 hectares, you can focus your cameras on the lush forest showcasing exotic plants from five continents displayed throughout its nine gardens.

Next, make your way to the Supertree Grove—a cluster of majestic trees made from steel and concrete. These trees house more than 700 species of tropical plants and flowers. If you have seen the movie Crazy Rich Asians, you might remember them forming the backdrop in the iconic wedding reception scene. Indeed, the Supertree Grove is one of the most beautiful places in Singapore for photography.
