Begin your photographic journey at the Central Fire Station in Singapore. Red is the colour of choice here.

Every Saturday morning, the fire station conducts an Open House for the public. Visitors are given an hour-long tour that gives you glimpse into the station’s facilities, capabilities and vehicles. This will be followed by an exciting live demonstration by the firefighters showing how the latest firefighting and life-saving equipment is used.  

The highlight of the Fire Station Open House is the water hosing demo. Your little ones can grab a piece of the action (complete with a complimentary fireman’s hat!) by holding onto the hose and shooting powerful jets of water to put out an imaginary fire, with assistance from the firefighters.

Visitors are welcome to take pictures of anything which captures their fancy. You can “slide” down a fireman’s pole, ride a fire engine like a firefighter, or take a selfie with the firefighters themselves—you can even pose as a family of “firefighters” next to the fire engine!

One of the best places to visit in Singapore for free, the station gives a rare chance for the little ones (and the adults) to experience what firefighters do.

After the tour, visit the Heritage Gallery, also at the Central Fire Station. Here you can check out the various types of fire engines, “don” a hazmat (hazardous material) suit, and gain a deeper insight into what firefighters undergo during an emergency.

Kids having a splashing good time makes great photographic subjects. And few places in Singapore can beat the Children’s Garden at Gardens By The Bay.

The centrepiece of a three-part play area for children, the Water Play area is controlled by computers—water jets linked to sensors create water effects that react to the movements of the children, eliciting squeals of delight, laughter and smiles. This colourful garden-themed area makes an excellent backdrop for capturing priceless photos or videos of you and your little ones drenched in fun.

Next, make your way to the Supertree Grove—a cluster of majestic trees made from steel and concrete. These trees house more than 700 species of tropical plants and flowers. If you have seen the movie Crazy Rich Asians, you might remember them forming the backdrop in the iconic wedding reception scene. Indeed, the Supertree Grove is one of the most beautiful places in Singapore for photography.

Train your camera and smartphone lenses on exhibits inspired by history and discovery at the ArtScience Museum.

With its unusual lotus-inspired structure, the ArtScience Museum is a highly Instagram-friendly building on its own. Immerse in the wonders of the deep with your little ones at the biggest aquarium in Southeast Asia. The S.E.A. Aquarium, located on the resort island of Sentosa, comprises 10 zones with 49 habitats. The aquarium is as much a visual wonder as it is an education centre for the little ones—here, they can learn about over 800 marine species and see them in their natural-looking habitats.

Experience what it feels like to be at the bottom of the ocean floor at the Open Ocean Habitat, the centrepiece of the aquarium. Measuring 36 metres wide and 8.3 metres tall, this ocean viewing gallery is both dreamy and surreal. It is the perfect place for a photo opportunity.
