2. “50 Bridges” Wall Art at Tekka Centre
Address |
Tekka Centre, 665 Buffalo Road, Singapore 210665 |
Everyone knows Tekka Centre for its hustle, bustle, and hearty local food. However, not many are aware that the messy loading area behind Tekka Market houses surprisingly beautiful wall art by different artists, which brings an otherwise quiet corner to life.
“50 Bridges” was part of an SG50 collaboration project between Australia and Singapore. As part of the project, 50 murals were painted on walls across the Singaporean heartlands.

3. Colourful Umbrella Art Installation at Hindoo Road

Hindoo Road, Singapore |
Even if you don’t need shelter, you’ll still want to check out the umbrella art at Hindoo Road. This rare and oddly-shaped patch of land has been used for art installations in recent times.
4. Heritage Shophouses Along Jalan Besar
Address |
Jalan Besar, Singapore |
One of the best places for Instagrammable photos is along Jalan Besar, a one-way street lined with old houses on both sides. The beauty of this stretch, in contrast to narrow side streets, is that you can get unobstructed, frontal views of shop facades.
Position your travel partner across from you on Jalan Besar, and seize a traffic-free moment to snap a photo with a nostalgic shophouse backdrop. Soon you’ll both have a series of memorable portraits which capture vintage Singapore.
5. Unique Public Housing Architecture at Jalan Besar
Address |
Tekka Centre, 665 Buffalo Road, Singapore 210665 |
Be sure to check out the unique architecture of the public flats at the corner of Veerasamy Road and Jalan Besar. Of the few residential estates peppered around Little India, these arrow-tipped towers are the most visually striking.
