Bike through 230 acres of lush greenery or kayak on the lake at Putrajaya Tropical Botanical Gardens.

Also known as Taman Botani, this man-made botanical garden houses over 700 plant species from 90 countries. Home to a botanical education and research centre, its sprawling compound is ideal for an after-dinner stroll.

The park’s masterpiece is a resplendent floral garden adorned with African and Asia Pacific blooms, as well as a jaw-dropping canopy bridge. This treetop walk overlooks a sea of green leaves and branches—these will grow skyward in a few years to gently envelope the wooden boardwalk bridge.

Game for something more challenging? Take a half-hour drive and brave the uneven terrain of Kanching Forest Reserve in Rawang, close to Templer's Park, and head for the 208-metre-tall, seven-layered Kanching waterfalls.

Join the locals in cooling down in the refreshing gushing waters of one of Malaysia’s rainforest waterfalls. The lower levels are popular with picnickers and monkeys, so do guard your belongings! If you need more privacy, an hour’s hike takes you to the tranquil surrounds of the upper waterfalls.
