Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob

Dempsey Bob’s production from the 1970s to the present is rooted in the visual as well as oral traditions of his Tahltan and Tlingit ancestors. This master carver’s oeuvre includes masks, helmets, spoons, rattles, panels and wall sculptures alongside a variety of other media. Bob was awarded a Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts and his ability to transform wood into sharply featured human, animal and mythological characters that evoke an intimate knowledge of how all beings are interconnected is astounding.
