Singapore Holidays: A 3-Night Itinerary for Night Owls
Tropical and sunny Singapore is perfect for after dark sojourners. The city is known for hosting the world’s first F1 night race and boasts the Night Safari — the world’s first night zoo. But the city state’s night escapades do not just stop there. When dusk falls, the island lights up with plenty of night sightseeing opportunities.
If you are visiting the Lion City for business or leisure, you can check out its numerous places of interest for party animals, nature lovers, or culture aficionados. Our team at the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road recommends this three-night itinerary with the best place to visit in Singapore at night.
Night 1: Party Away at the Quays
Singapore has a pretty vibrant nightlife, if you know where to look. Keen to knock back some drinks or find a place to chill after dark? Here’s where to go in Singapore at night — Clarke Quay and Boat Quay — two of the island city’s liveliest nightspots.
Head to Boat Quay at twilight, where you will be just in time to catch the city skyline illuminate along the Singapore River. Pick from the numerous bars and nightclubs lining the stretch along the river. Among its many watering holes, consider having your drinks at Southbridge — you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the city’s glowing skyscrapers at its rooftop bar. While admiring the view, feast on fresh New Zealand oysters while sipping champagne.
Feeling more energetic as the night deepens? Time to have a change in tempo. Cross one of the many bridges across the Singapore River, and take a short walk to Clarke Quay. Revel in the pulsating night energy of clubs and pubs like Crazy Elephant — a rollicking retro-themed bar which plays non-stop rock and roll music. If you visit on a Sunday, you will be just in time for its fun jam session.
If exercising your body is more your cup of tea, sashay your way to Cuba Libre Café & Bar. Heated up with Latin music, you can dance the night away to resident live bands. Thirsty after all that moving and grooving? Try the bar’s signature cocktails like the Caipirinha and the Mojito Grande.
Night 2: Experience Nocturnal Nature at the Night Safari
Wish to tell the difference between diurnal, crepuscular and nocturnal animals? A trip to the Night Safari will satisfy your curiosity. Spanning 35 hectares — roughly the size of 49 soccer fields — the world’s first nocturnal wildlife park is home to more than 900 animals from over 100 species.
Divided into seven zones, you can explore the nocturnal zoo either using the walking trails, tram, or a combination of both. The animals here are separated from visitors not by cages, but natural barriers that simulate the animals’ native habitat.
There are some must-visit trails, like the Fishing Cat Trail. There you can find the Pangolin, an unusual mammal with scaly skin, and sadly one of the most illegally trafficked in the world. When threatened it curls into a ball, which makes it quite a sight.
Also not to be missed is the Leopard Trail. Watch out for the Asiatic Lion, a unique big cat species from the Gir Forest in India. If you visit on a Friday, Saturday or eve of a Public Holiday, you can catch a feeding session (8pm and 9pm) and gawk as the lions spring into action.
If you are taking the tram ride, look out for the majestic Nile Hippo — the third-largest land mammal in the world from Africa. You should also keep your eyes peeled for the Malayan Tapirs with their striking black and white markings. Once widely found throughout the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, the Malayan Tapir is now in danger of extinction.
If there is one thing you have to do at the Night Safari, it is to catch the Creatures of the Night Show. Available at three timings (7:15pm, 8:30pm and 9:30pm; a 10:30pm show is also available on Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holidays), the eye-opening 20-minute show showcases the talents of nocturnal animals, such as the hyenas and otters. The show is pretty popular, so do arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the show starts.

Night 3: Venture on a Culture Trail at Little India and Kampong Glam
If you fancy experiencing Singapore’s famed melting pot of cultures, you need to make an evening trip to the nearby ethnic enclaves of Little India and Kampong Glam.
Begin trekking your cultural trail at dusk.
Start from the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple as your first stop. Built in 1881, it is Little India’s most colourful and visually stunning structure as well as one of Singapore’s oldest temples. Visitors are welcome to enter the temple to admire its architecture — just remember to remove your footwear at the entrance.
Feeling famished? Look no further than Tekka Market, where North and South Indian food dominate the eateries here. Dig into one of the more common Indian food items in Singapore — the roti prata, a South Indian Specialty which is similar to flatbread. You can have them with sugar or a savoury meat or vegetarian curry. Complement your food with a cup of Teh Tarik (“pulled tea”), a traditional hot milk tea drink made from a strong brew of black tea with condensed milk.

Retailing more than 300,000 items, you can find anything from expensive jewellery to electronic goods, toys, sundry goods, and fresh food produce.
If you had your fill of shopping, you can take a short stroll from Little India to the nearby Kampong Glam area. Also known as Singapore’s Malay-Muslim quarter, it is the home of the famed Sultan Mosque (Masjid Sultan) — a gold-domed religious edifice that is beautifully illuminated at night.
Infused with a festive feel every night, Haji Lane, in particular, is a must-visit. Decked with mural art in psychedelic colours, the artistically designed lane is lined with cafes and bars where you can end the night with some drinks. After you bid the night adieu, take a short three-minute walk back to your suite at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road.
