Few things in life speak of love as much as food; French food in particular. Housed on level 23a of The Troika, Cantaloupe at Troika Sky Dining is a treat for all your senses. You can take in unblocked views of the KL cityscape while polishing off the last morsel of wagyu beef or foie gras with your significant other. Especially noteworthy is The Scrumptious Sunday Lunch, which as its name suggests, is extremely satisfying. It falls on the last Sunday of every month.

If rustic is more your type, A Little Farm on the Hill is the perfect off-the-beaten-track dinner location for you. Gather some of your favourite couples and do a group lunch date at its Dining Room. You can be sure the spread here will be colourful and delicious – slow food at its best. While tucking into your lovingly prepared meal, chew on this quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: “Love does not dominate; it cultivates.” Service is by pre-booking only. Make your reservations here. (Do note that prices start at RM200 per guest and there is a minimum spend of RM2000 per booking.)

Chilling out at a rooftop bar has got to be one of the best things to do in KL at night.

Your best bets are Marini’s on 57 (level 57, Menara 3 Petronas) and Heli Lounge Bar (34th floor, Jalan Sultan Ismail). Both options offer some of the best views of KL city, especially at sunset. Just make sure you arrive early at Heli Lounge Bar as there is a minimum spend of RM100 required if you enter after 9pm from Thursdays to Sundays.

To spice up your love life, hop onto a dance class at LindyKL. The dance school offers lindy hop crash courses for beginners, so you can learn how to swing dance in just one weekend!

Another adventurous thing to do is to join a cooking class. LaZat Malaysian Cooking School is a home-based culinary school tucked away in a rustic kampong-style village. Opt for the morning option and you will be picked up at your hotel and brought on a market tour and breakfast. You will then be whisked away to a traditional Malay home surrounded by greenery, where you will learn how to prepare a 3-course lunch using local ingredients and spices.

If secret gardens set your heart aflutter, don’t miss a visit to the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, touted as one of the largest butterfly parks in the world. The park spans over 80,000 sq ft of landscaped gardens filled with verdant greens and flowering vines. It houses some 5,000 live butterflies, and other attractions such as fresh-water turtles and Japanese koi.

Prefer to “dive” into the deep blue sea? Catch marine wildlife in action at Aquaria KLCC, conveniently located in the heart of KL with some 5,000 different exhibits housed within a sprawling 60,000 sq ft space. If you wish to demonstrate your bravery to your dearly beloved, you can even dive with sharks here (but that’s only if you’re a certified diver.) Alternatively, if you think you are ready to take the plunge, go for their marriage proposal service and plan a proposal that will knock her flippers off.

For something more tame and relaxing, head to Ampang lookout point. Dubbed “Little Genting,” you can expect to enjoy twinkling views of KL city unfolding before you. It is the perfect spot to cap off the night with your loved one, while pondering endless possibilities.
