Whatever your circumstances, there are always fun and interesting things to do in Singapore!

Lean back, relax and consider these recommendations as you plan for your own staycation plans!

Best Places to Stay for a Family or Couple Staycation in Singapore

There are many reasons why you should choose a staycation at a serviced residence. As a home away from home, serviced apartments let you escape from the humdrum of everyday life for a couple of days up or even a week or two.

Perhaps you are entering a crunch time at work and need space to fully focus and be productive. Most serviced apartments allow you to work — at least for a couple of hours — while your children or significant other are engaged in other pursuits. Once you are done from your “work-cation”, you can join your family in exploring the city or simply chilling out.

Serviced apartments are also ideal for those renovating their homes. For those who decide to take a renovation vacation (aka a “reno-cation”), service residences serve as a short-term accommodation option until the dust settles.

Unlike smaller hotels (especially budget accommodations), most serviced apartments offer the luxury of space. That translates into flexibility for your stay as you can choose to have friends and family pop in and enjoy the facilities at any time.

Another plus is that each of our serviced suites come with a well-equipped kitchenette, which means you can whip up healthy meals for your loved ones with ease.

You may be surprised to know that our serviced apartments are also pet-friendly. To find out more about our extensive facilities, hop over here.

Best Day Activities in Singapore for Families and Couples

Now that you’ve got your accommodation settled, your goal is to take your marital or family bond to new heights during your local staycation. Unknown to many, Singapore is home to many hidden nature gems and Instagram-worthy spots waiting to be discovered.

Re-discover Singapore Via Kayak

Is cycling or driving down Singapore’s streets too mundane for your liking? To up your adrenaline level by a couple of notches, consider kayaking down the many hidden streams and waterways in the island city!

Make a riverine date with Kayak Asia — the water sports specialist organises regular trips on brightly coloured watercrafts along mangrove streams and river trails. To be safe, the tour operators will ensure that you and your family members can swim, and are familiar with kayak capsize drills.

With the wind in your hair, and the therapeutic sound of paddles slicing water, it will be a Singapoliday to remember.

Take Pretty Snaps of Peranakan Architecture at Joo Chiat
colourful shophouses peranakan district singapore colourful shophouses peranakan district singapore

Looking to add some pretty heritage-infused colours to your Instagram feed? Hop down to the historic Joo Chiat area and take #OOTD shots with iconic Peranakan shophouses in the background!

Located near the intersection of Koon Seng Road and Joo Chiat Road, these buildings are painted in a pretty palette of pastel shades and feature quaint accented wall tiles alongside wooden window shutters. Taken from afar, the colours of these houses actually resemble the rainbow kueh lapis that many Singaporeans grew up eating and love.

While it is understandable to go trigger-happy here, do practise caution and be sensitive to the residents living in these houses.

Apart from pretty pictures, you can also bring home some tasty Nyonya morsels. Just take a short walk to Kim Choo Kueh Chang and indulge in some classic Nyonya dumplings and dessert. (For more places of interest to visit in the district, read this.)

Pro tip: Do visit in the early mornings or late afternoons to take advantage of the natural light.

Fall in Love With Pottery

There are few activities as therapeutic and indulgently time-wasting as pottery. Who knows what magic may happen when it is just you, a lump of clay, and the potter’s wheel?

Fortunately for the connoisseurs of clay, you check out several popular pottery workshops here in Singapore. Try Mud Rock Ceramics, where you will get to learn directly from the people who make ceramics for top restaurants and Michelin-starred chefs around the world. Their claims to fame include even royal gifts—like a teapot for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II!

School of Clay Arts offers introductory workshops but it is a game of fastest fingers first as the slots are snapped up pretty quickly once made available.

For family-friendly classes, do check out Goodman Ceramic Studio. The 8th Floor also offers a course of 10 classes at flexible time slots and pace.
