Beauty in the Mind: A Photographic Depiction

Singapore, 15 September 2014 – Pan Pacific Singapore collaborates with Ms Lim Qing Hui Diana to present Beauty in the Mind: A Photographic Depiction. From 1 October 2014 to 4 January 2015, Lim will be showcasing 21 of her works at the Public Art Space located at Level 2 of Pan Pacific Singapore. Beauty in the Mind: A Photographic Depiction will showcase a collection of different photographic series shot across various mediums. These pieces aim to recapture the feel of beauty through surreal photographs while connecting viewers with the simplest illustration of emotion. Each piece is a depiction of beauty in Lim’s mind and taking centre stage in this exhibition is A Transient Tale, a tribute to ephemeral innocence, fantasy, and limitless imagination inspired by classic fairy tales.

Lim first developed an interest in photography when she was 18 years old as she was intrigued by how traditional film photography allowed her to capture and retain emotions in that magic moment. After graduating from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2010, Lim continued to pursue this interest where she worked as a senior photographer and editor for a local company. Over a span of four years, she found a style that defined her personality while allowing her to pursue her passion and interest in this area of arts. As her first milestone, Lim was invited to hold her first solo exhibition at the age of 20 years old and has since published works in leading publications and media portals.

Originally spurred by Japanese and Korean pop culture, Lim has since developed and grown to seek inspiration from the simplest and most unassuming experiences in her life. Enraptured by the camera’s ability to capture raw emotions, Lim seeks to inspire her audience to look beyond modern day technology and appreciate the basics of photography – capturing a single moment and retaining the raw beauty.
