6 Most Romantic Dating Spots in Singapore for Couples

Fall in Love All Over Again

“Passion Made Possible” may be Singapore’s spanking new tagline, but visitors to Singapore may still view us as a clean, green, and efficient gateway city connected to other Southeast Asian destinations.

Unbeknownst to many, our modern and perpetually changing city is also home to many perfect paktor (local slang for dating) locations. Some of these dating spots in places of interest in Singapore even come with secret gardens and hidden nooks, perfect for cosying up with your significant other.

From mid-air bridges to rooftop bars, here are 6 places in Singapore for couples on honeymoon or simply those wanting some quiet time with your significant other, lovingly brought to you by the PARKROYAL on Beach Road team.

1. Get Lit Up at Henderson Waves

Address
269 Beach Road, Singapore 199546

If making out 36 metres above ground fits your idea of date night, the beautiful Henderson Waves bridge might just be the perfect place for you.

Awash with romantic yellow lights from 7pm to 7am, Singapore’s tallest pedestrian bridge features a distinctive wave-like structure, cozy alcoves, and thoughtful benches. It is a top nature attraction that is hotly popular with families and couples, so be prepared to share the space on weekends and even weekday evenings.

From here, it is a short leisurely walk up to Mount Faber Park for some nosh and more scenic, intimate views of Singapore.

2. Run Away to Ann Siang Hill Park

Address
78 Club Street, Singapore

This quaint little spot of greenery within the CBD is so hidden that even some locals don’t know about it. It is one of the few quiet places in Singapore for couples looking to spend quality time together.

Located at the end of Ann Siang Road, Ann Siang Hill Park’s winding paths can be accessed by taking the stairs next to Siang Cho Keong Temple. The park offers a bird’s eye view of Chinatown’s conservation shophouses. Many of these pre-war buildings once housed Chinese clan associations, but are now taken over by restaurants, bars, and independent boutiques.

If you’re a nature lover, you can point out interesting tree species such as tamarind, cinnamon, and nutmeg trees to your loved one – these will surely spice up your date and provide shade for a snuggle.

While you’re in the vicinity, take the opportunity to check out hip food joints such as P.S. Café, The Disgruntled Chef, and Lolla. If intoxicating vintage cocktails in a secret bar appeal to you and your mate, head to The Apothecary for a nightcap.

4. Picnic on the Esplanade Rooftop

Address
1 Esplanade Drive, Singapore
Phone Number
+65 6828 8377

The Esplanade, with its unblocked views of the city skyline, is one of the top 10 attractions in Singapore. Home to a host of Singapore cultural events and artistic performances, its spiky surface makes it a landmark of Marina Bay.

But here’s the thing most people don’t know. If you take the lift all the way to the rooftop, you can set up a romantic picnic and have the views pretty much all to yourselves. The rooftop is irregularly shaped and houses a manicured green lawn, so it’s easy to find a quiet corner for you to enjoy the splendid view of the Marina Bay skyline, or get lost in your partner’s eyes.

Tip: Try to plan your visit after 6:00pm, as that’s when the kids’ play area closes and you won’t run the risk of toddlers stomping on your picnic food, or breaking up your concentration.

5. Get Entangled at the Helix Bridge

Inspired by the form of a curved DNA structure, the award-winning Helix Bridge resembles a set from a sci-fi movie.

Few would know that if all the steel tubes forming the major and minor helix were laid end to end, they would measure 2,250 m long. (That’s almost equivalent to the length of a 2.4 km run!) Amazingly, the double helices only touch each other in one position, under the bridge deck.

But enough trivia about the hardware (which you can use to impress your date with.) At night, the bridge comes alive with lights designed to highlight its double-helix structure, making it the perfect place to wrap up an evening of wining and dining. You can sidle up close to your mate at one of the four viewing “pods” and take in the stunning views of the twinkling Marina Bay area. It may also be apt to break into the tunes of Unchained Melody here.
