The Role

  • Maintains good working relationships with local and international media
  • Maintains current media lists: local and international travel, leisure, lifestyle, entertainment, business and food editors
  • Executes media placements for resort through news releases and personal contacts
  • Develops business and leisure travel promotions and release to press and/or target audience
  • Explores valuable media trades where appropriate
  • Serves as the resort spokesperson, when appointed by General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing, to make all official statements for the resort to media, especially during crisis situations
  • Maintains photo and electronic library of all aspects of the resort
  • Maintains and update resort’s website and pages on RHR website
  • Submits stories/photos to media and RHR regularly
  • Arranges photography of VIP guests and maintain archives
  • Monitors news coverage and circulate internally
  • Maintains updated resort press kit to include news releases, key leadership biographies & photos
  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing in developing and producing sales support materials for the resort, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, mailers, promotion materials, in-room information, guides, etc.
  • Supports the Food and Beverage Department in development and production of signage, menus, and other F&B collateral materials
  • Monitors all printed materials for adherence to corporate identity standards
  • Coordinates all special events and promotions and ensures maximum publicity
  • Establishes PR & Communications programs that will benefit and support sales and F&B strategies and initiatives
  • Evaluates request for sponsorship/donations of services/financial participation from civil, social and charitable organizations; respond to requests, coordinate reservations and preparation of gift certificates
  • Coordinates joint fundraisers and other community promotions
  • Serve as the resort's representative on major civic or community programs
  • Assist with creation and implementation of local, regional and international advertising
  • Conduct regular department training, with focus on associates’ career development
  • Contribute to associate newsletter, announcements and other printed materials published by the People & Culture (HR) Department
  • Attain awards and accolades. Target resort and F&B recognition through a diligent awards action plan and track progress throughout the year to ensure that the targeted awards and accolades are achieved. Actively promote the existing awards and accolades to gain more exposure for the resort and food and beverage.
  • Support and drive positive internal Public Relations working together with the People & Culture (HR) Department, ensuring that internal associates are aware of all the great things happening at PARKROYAL Langkawi Resort. Communicating achievements to Pan Pacific Hotels Group so that the resort is featured in PPHG's internal platforms and other communication channels i.e Yammer, WeConnect
  • Continuously find ways to expand the database and develop a wider audience that can be reached for promotions and news.
  • Works closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, attends meeting and supports to drive digital initiatives and goals
  • Collaborates seamlessly with the external PR Agency and communicates effectively, making sure the full value of the external agency is received, leveraging the strengths of the PR Agency and using them to full advantage
  • Guides and supports the associates of the Marketing team, by creating and following a development plan for each associate

Talent Profile

  • Diploma or degree in communication science, general management or hotel management
  • Sound luxury resort marketing communication knowledge
  • Preferably candidate who is in the same capacity of an upscale/luxury hotel or resort
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of colleagues
  • Service oriented with an eye for details
  • Multicultural awareness and able to work and thrive within a culturally diverse environment
  • Good presentation and influencing skills
  • Confidence when dealing with complex issues
  • Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively
  • Ability to work independently and has good initiative under dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated and energetic
